So this is a thing that I guess we have to read if we're marvel fans... The first issue was... ok, it seemed ;like the most generic event ever. Marvels next Event should just be titled
Marvel: Heroes Fight a Villain For Few Issues Then Everything is Resolved and Goes Back to the Way it Was Before it Began!!! (don't forget tie in books which include incredibly tangential stories which will disrupt the flow of some of your favorite books) (also don't forget secondary 4 issue run which has a title very similar to main series will be so devoid of any content or story you would get more by reading the ads)
I think this is the first event I may fall off of...

Don't Get me wrong - I actually really like events and crossovers, which is something that pulls me to the medium... but Axis and spiderverse together... was just too much. I did the math and it would be a ridiculous amount of money for everything, or even just the mainline. so I just said screw it and dropped all my marvel titles. I'll read them when they're on the Marvel Unlimited App.
Its nice to have room on my pull list again.

I'm getting really close to this myself I enjoy Marvel, and truthfully I don't define myself as a "Marvel" Guy or "DC" Guy... but they offer an out for me to read their books cheaper, I'll be inclined to take it, when there is so much other good stuff coming out. This is especially true when I like their product but not their business model. Double and triple shipping books I just feel is bad overall... cuts down on quality. I'd love for Marvel to put out 1 issue per title per month, and one event per year, that can be double shipped if it really needed too.

That's extremely unfortunate; I don't think any of mine are. edit: I just checked, and yeah, thankfully none of the books i'm reading are involved. Even the stuff that i'm trade-waiting on is AXIS-free and Spiderverse-free.

All you need for spider verse is Amazing Spider-man. Also, you can go with just the primary Axis series. If you look at the solicits and keywords in interviews about the projects you can tell which books are fluff.

I've already bitched elsewhere that my favorite book is getting sucked into this, after going on hiatus for Original Sin. I did read the first issue of AXIS and I was decently entertained, but honestly if Loki wasn't going to be involved I wouldn't be continuing to pick it up, partly just because of the expense and partly because I already have event fatigue and I've only just got into superhero comics!

that's the point of tieins, though, to get different readers to pick up the main title. and it looks like it worked!

I don't think it's bad, despite what most people seem to be saying around the ol interwebs. Remender's been telling this story for 3 years now through various titles and it's all culminating in seeing how Apocalypse grows up, the Skull's influence, the importance of what does and doesn't make a hero, etc.

I like this story (now on #6). I don't like the dialogue. it's pretty weak.
