So next year will see a new Secret Wars and a new Civil War. How is it this company can simultaneously come up with great new comics like Ms Marvel and Superior Foes of Spider-Man and still be in such an incredible rut with their mainstream books?

I'll reserve my judgement for when we actually know more about these events.

My first reaction to hearing about another Secret Wars was definitely, "Ughhh. Really? Again? REALLY." And I stand by that. But I should admit that i'm not much for giant crossovers/events anyways, so I guess I'm not who they're trying to sell it to?

Perhaps Marvel Editorial is getting nostalgic. I, for one, miss the days when events or cross-overs only occurred once a year (if at all).

The incursions in Hickman's run are bringing every alternate universe in conflict with each other. This is going to be very awesome. I want to see Marvel Noir vs Marvel 1602 lol.

I love Marvel's strategy of announcing three more events, while there's one going, and one about to start, and I'm not even sure if Original Sin is finished. And do we count Time Runs Out as another event because I haven't counted that one.

We have this now as well because I mean why wouldn't we... Eesh, I'm getting closer and closer to dumping new comics all together and just putting my funds towards old collections

We have no information stating that these teaser's are each a separate event, if anything these teasers all tie into the Secret Wars event that will be pitting all the Marvel Universes in conflict with one another due to the incursions from Avengers and New Avengers. I'm sure we will get more solid details of Friday or early next week, due to solicits coming out soon.
Lets not all jump the shark here folks....

Hazarding a guess here: 1) Marvel's doing their whole "Time Runs Out" schtick right now, and they've made mention of how all the time travel stuff they've been doing of late is really making a mess of the universe. And it's their 75th Anniversary.
So, I'm guessing that, when they shatter time, that's how they'll be revisiting their "Greatest Hits". And there's every chance that each one will play out differently.
Might this lead to a slight reboot/re-jigging of the whole line? Yeah, there's a good chance. Depending on how long they do this, it's probably how they'll relaunch the Fantastic Four, and how they'll bring back Wolverine.
Just guessing, though.

Attribution is messing up, this is Gary Chapin talking: Pile is the word. Tom B. at Marvel assures us that this will be the biggest pile in the history of the Marvel Universe. I was just reading Marvel Comics: the Untold Story by Sean Howe, and the section on Secret Wars is amazing. Between Jim Shooter's Captain Queeg act and the shenanigans going on with distributors and retailors, it was some pretty epic cynicism. Merchandising and toy deals drove that whole thing, and is there any reason to think that isn't happening now?

As Jason mentioned, perhaps this will lead to a re-configured Marvel Universe (where I hope that things aren't as contentious between the heroes), so that might make this all worthwhile, if not worth the time and money you'd have to invest in getting there--you'll need to knock over a Brink's armored car to follow all these series and their cross-overs!
For me (and I'm only speaking for me!), as an old-timer with "event fatigue", while I agree with the Cap'n that we shouldn't always pre-judge, my feelings are more toward Michael's in that I'm treasuring the outlier books that don't require "outside reading" to complete the story.
As always, fingers crossed for good comics and reading enjoyment for everyone!
