Simon, One of my "faded favorites" has already made a nice comeback, and that is Dark Horse Comics' spectral avenger Ghost. I was a big fan of the Eric Luke original in the Nineties, so I'm thrilled that she's back, and in the capable hand of Ms. Kelly Sue DeConnick! As to those still languishing, they're mostly on the DC side of the aisle. The Metal Men were my first DC books, and although they are due for a return in JLA, I'm fearful of a tonal shift, as I can't picture their light-hearted sci-fi adventures having a place in current continuity, and the same would hold true for the Bob Haney/Ramona Fradon creation Metamorpho the Element Man, and the original Doom Patrol. (Not to mention The Inferior Five!) Marvel always seems to dredge up the forgotten heroes and heroines, for instance, it was great to see Dakota North hanging with Carol Danvers, and D.W. Griffith helping Luke Cage get his HQ up-and-running in the last Mighty Avengers! I'm sure that we'll never see the May Parker Spider-Girl again, which makes me very sad, but I was thrilled to read that James Robinson will be be bringing Alicia Masters back into Ben Grimm's life, so maybe I should wish a little harder for "Mayday's" return! Hi Bob, I'm probably in way over my head here because I know nothing of May Parker as Spider-Girl, but I just wanted to let you know that a character named May Parker appeared in Uncanny Avengers #14 except she was called Venom. It was in a bit of setup and I'm sure we'll being seeing her again in the series. Knowing Rick Remender she's probably some crazy alternate version but I just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Hey Grim, Here's a link to a piece I did about Spider-Girl that will fill you in: ( talkingcomicbooks.com/2013/08/26/the-amazing-spider-girl/ ) One can only hope that the May in Mr. Remender's story isn't "our" May! ps) Yes, I know the link is up-thread )I think that's the right term!), but in my old-fashioned way, re-posting it is easier than quoting myself! rrr

Mr. Reyer, What inspired you to be so awesome? (It's hard to think of questions I haven't asked you before!)
Do you think that Marvel will "kill" off another character like Peter Parker? (by the way, I read an interview with Dan Slott and...I should have heeded the warnings. Spoilers galore and I know some things about what is coming in Superior Spider-Man that I wish I didn't.)
Has there ever been a superhero character killed off that you think was either good story telling, or you were happy they weren't in the book anymore and so forth?
Keep being awesome, Logan A. Rowland

Hi Bob, glad to see you on the forum and thanks for helping to make the podcast a really enjoyable listen. I'm wondering if you've ever read any of Paul Chadwick's Concrete series from Dark Horse. I don't remember you ever mentioning it on the podcast, but it would seem up your alley in terms of focusing on really grounded, human storytelling.
Also, I'm working my way through Jonathan Hickman's run on the Fantastic Four and it has quickly become one of my favorite runs ever. I don't read too much Marvel stuff, so thanks for highlighting this!

To answer two at once:
"W": I don't think I've ever read more than a smidgen of Concrete, which was one of the most praised books in its time. I'll have to check it out! Mr. Hickman's run was epic, and it has been many readers entry into the world of Fantastic Four--just ask...
Logan: I would say "awful", not awesome, but why argue? As to comic demises, and Spoiler Alerts galore here, even though these stories date back decades, and that many of the deaths have been reversed:
Avengers #9 (Wonder Man): Introduced in that very issue, his sacrifice still made a tremendous impact!
Fantastic Four #31 & #32 (Invincible Man): I won't spoil his identity beforehand, but these two issues give a lot of depth to the back-story of Marvel's First Family!
X-Men #137 (Phoenix): Obviously!
Fantastic Four #267 ("A Small Loss"): In this story by John Byrne, a character that we never even see creates one of the most emotional moments in Marvel's history, and one that still gets me weepy after nearly thirty years!
Hope this helps! rrr

A few short years ago the same could of been said of Scarlet Spider or Spider-man 2099, so I remain hopeful!

Damn, they make me wish I lived on the west coast! The Tricerahops and Vanilla Oatis look pretty amazing.

I would like to vouch for Ninkasi. Vanilla Oatis is one of my go to beers as I love stouts. On the occasion I want something hoppy I'll grab a tricerahops, or their believer double red ale. I love that every grocery store has beer isles that are loaded with delicious microbrews, even mini-marts like 711 have a small selection.

The first issue of Miracleman just came out.
I was wondering if you (Bob) were a fan of the original, and if you had a chance to check out the new release. Did you like it?

I was curious if you think a solo series for Black Panther would be able to find success in today's Marvel line-up Bob? Black Panther seems to struggle with solo series, though he has found small success with Reginald Hudlin's Volume 4 and Chris Priest's Volume 3. My dream team on a Black Panther book would be Hickman and Francavilla.

Drocat, I've read some of Miracleman (Marvelman), mostly as an interesting sidebar to the history of the Fawcett Captain Marvel, but never a whole bunch. I glanced through the issue on stands this week, but "No sale" for me; sorry about that!

Cap, I think that what Jonathan Hickman has been doing with T'Challa in New Avengers has been amazing, but as you say, the Panther's history as a lead has been spotty. With his increased profile in NA, this might be the moment to try it, though! If you haven't already, check out the Jungle Action run by Don McGregor and Billy Graham (Rich Buckler & Klaus Janson, too!)from the Seventies! rrr
