aren't you looking forward to a dan didio movie? Depends. Is he a hero, anti-hero or villain? Is this a morality tale, a psychological thriller, or a full-on big budget action movie? Maybe it's a modern western with the steely-eyed underdog battling the overwhelming forces of corporate America? Or the staunch defender of all things grim, dark and joyless, refusing to bow to the whims of the hordes of fans who are too mindless to realize that all heroes are really at their core Batman?

Luciano, Actually, I was just making a joke, hence the "Sorry for the snark" coda. Here's another rib-tickler: I am intrigued at seeing Wonder Woman appear in a feature film about super-heroes...so that's why I'll have to pass on this one! *rim shot*
Seriously though, I desperately want to see a respectful version of the Amazon Princess on the screen, but I so thoroughly detested "MoS" that I have little trust in the film-makers to deliver that. To date, while all we have is rumours about the plot, ten seconds of footage, and some static imagery, they do all point to more-of-the-same grimness, so it is going to take some good pre-release word-of-mouth to convince me to shell out the cash to go to the cinema, although I might try to sneak in to catch a glimpse of Xena...sorry... Wonder Woman. All these negatives aside, there's more of a chance of me seeing this "BvS" film than that "Faux-tastic Four" movie that Fox is making! ps) Messers Goyer and Snyder are always on about how audiences won't "buy" films with the tone of Christopher Reeve's "Superman" in this day-and-age; I wonder what they make of the week-end box-office numbers for "Guardians"? There's no reason the DC Cinematic Universe has to be bright and chirpy like Marvel. If anything it's a good thing they're tonally different, giving people a choice. Its all a question of taste. It does not mean what DC is doing is wrong and what Marvel is doing is right. It's just contrast. Imagine Snyder came out and said "We want to be exactly like Marvel!" It would cause just as much outcry. And honestly it's disrespectful to everybody who loves what DC is doing to have somebody not simply say they didn't enjoy it, but that its a mess and its wrong and not a representation of what that individual wants. Sorry to sound angry or argumentative, but I'm just tired of having something I truly enjoy being constantly crapped on. If you don't like a comic, write a better one. If you don't like a film, make a better one. There are literally not valid arguments for one persons taste against another. Someone out there thinks Citizen Kane is a boring film and that same person probably says Transformers is better. You (and I) would disagree. Doesn't make either person right or wrong. Just makes them different.

I am not trying to be confrontational or combative. I am genuinely curious as to what it is that I have failed to appreciate or consider (probably due to my fondness for the heroes of my youth). I do not necessarily dislike DC's style. For example, I suspect a more subdued, serious approach would work better for Aquaman, especially since most non-comic book readers still probably view him as the guy who talks to the fish from the Superfriends cartoon rather than the monarch in the Nu52 Aquaman books.

Someone out there thinks Citizen Kane is a boring film and that same person probably says Transformers is better. You (and I) would disagree. Doesn't make either person right or wrong. Just makes them different. Slam, You are, of course, correct in your assertion that my dislike for "MoS" is a matter of personal taste (albeit through the filter of what I hope is a well-informed cinematic knowledge), a point I've strived to continually mention in any discussion about the matter, and although I might have slipped up here-and-there, I have tried to avoid labelling others' opinions as "wrong". As any critique that we here at Talking Comics do, it is our honest opinion, one that comes without agenda, which we will assume is what people are here for. As we all love the medium of comics, we try to celebrate those things we love by being positive, but we'd be doing a dis-service to those looking for guidance if we become Pollyannas, never pointing out what we perceive as negatives. In this specific instance, even though I've attempted to refrain from re-opening old wounds, I believe that my opinion regarding the new Wonder Woman outfit was being actively solicited, and then a question regarding my feelings for the new film, hence my response. For myself and many others who have long histories with Superman, the presentation of that character in the aforementioned film seems a misrepresentation of the vast majority of his published mythos post-Sheldon Mayer's edicts about the violence in the DC and All-American comics (perhaps prompted by Dr. Marston's articles regarding the "blood-thirsty masculinity" contained there-in?), and which was the point where, for instance, Batman ceased to carry a gun and Superman's penchant for roughing up thugs began to wane. My personal dis-satisfaction regarding "MoS", as well as much of DC's current published output in general is not only that it isn't a "representation of what (I) want" (why I'm currently buying so few of their titles), but that the tack they've taken runs counter to their marvelous characters' historic core values, which I feel has become a limiting factor in the expansion of the marketplace beyond their target audience. That narrow focus, exemplified by their monolithic tone, does bring them in one group of fervent fans (which is wonderful), but it also keeps so many potential readers locked out that to my mind, it isn't a equitable trade-off. I have long-advocated adding an "Old 26" of titles to the DC line that would feature their major characters in stories told with a Silver or Bronze age ethos in an attempt to reclaim those of us who continue to love Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and all the rest, but who don't see the hearts or values of those characters in the versions now on stands; these additions could add many new and lapsed readers without affecting those who are enjoying the current iterations. Once again, and for me personally, it's about fidelity to the source material, so if a "Doc Savage" film is made that features Lester Dent's famously non-violent character using machine guns as opposed to his usual tranquilizer bullets, I'm going to make mention of it, much as I did my disdain for "The Mandarin" switch in "Iron Man 3", the deviations from the John Byrne/Chris Claremont plot and character elements in "DoFP", and of course, seemingly everything about the new "Fantastic Four". (A sidebar: While "there is no argument in taste or color", there should still be within anyone attempting to be even-handed about a critique the drive to have an appreciation for the history of a medium, the very crux of the properly-stated "everyone's entitled to an informed opinion", so while it is certainly within an individual's rights to enjoy one project over another, the understanding of the artistic or historic merits of said projects have to be considered in order to provide context. There are many movies that I enjoy that fall outside the lines of critical praise, and the fact that the Ray Harryhausen film "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" is not going to appear on any AFI "Best of..." list doesn't dampen my enthusiasm for it, nor preclude me from including it in my personal "Top Twenty". That said, I also fully understand that even though it was the first "Fifties Big Bug" movie, historically and artistically it doesn't measure up to its progenitor, the 1933 "King Kong", so I'm rather pacific about others not having the same passion for it, although I would debate anyone telling me that it "doesn't belong" there on my own personal list!)

9 movies?!?!? Hey, DC and Warner's: how about just a little commitment. I understand WB success doesn't rest on DC superhero properties, but could they show any less confidence? This all comes back to the fact that Green Lantern was not a very good movie and that MoS by Z. Snyder didn't knock it out of the park like Nolan's Batman Begins. How about WB shows some confidence and grabs the bull by the horns by announcing a Wonder Woman movie directed by Francis Lawrence that will premier before Marvel has a chance to crank out a Black Widow or Captain Marvel movie?

So just realized something. This is coming out in 2016. Also happens to be the 30th anniversary for Dark Knight Returns. I wonder if they planned that? I hope that means a nice big hardcover edition.

So WB has registered some interesting domain names
JusticeLeagueFilm.com
ShazamMovie.com
WonderWomanTheMovie.com
AquamanMovie.com
This could very well just be them staking a claim on the domains. But it was mentioned that we'd be hearing an announcement late August/September about something. I get the feeling these might be it.
