I couldn't think of a way to make that sound more nonsensical.
Anyway I was listening to an older episode of the Empire podcast and a listener sent in a question asking what movies they thought worked well as a sequel to a completely unrelated movie and that got me thinking about some.
They mentioned Insomnia being a sequel for Al Pacino's character from Heat which I think makes sense.
Everyone says Enemy of the State is an unofficial sequel to The Conversation, mainly Gene Hackmans character.
After the disappointment that was A Good Day To Die Hard (but I still love 4), I saw 16 Blocks for the first time and thought that was a great "Final Die Hard" movie, complete with Mos Def as the Sam Jackson/Justin Long sidekick.
What are some others?

Wow, that's a fascinating question. I'll have to mull that over a bit!
