Let's talk about all the current Guardians titles! My thoughts:
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (the main book) This book is gold to me right now. Bendis is hitting a high water mark for this series. Nick Bradshaw is one of my favorite artists. Captain Marvel is in the mix. My personal Guardians-mania is at an all-time high because of the movie. Life is good.
LEGENDARY STAR-LORD
I loved issue 1, and issue 2 was pretty good. The art is excellent, and the dialogue and characterization is spot-on. However, I saw all the twists coming (I'm not a person that ever sees twists coming.) and I didn't completely buy Peter being able to so easily convince his sister to go along with the caper. I'm still all-in, though. I did enjoy the brief discussion of race. I guess even the Spartex have racism. And the action was so well-rendered. There was a lot going on, and I never for a second felt lost or confused.
ROCKET RACCOON This book is really fun. I'm not sure I like it as much as a lot of people do, but it's cool.
100th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL This thing was awesome. Everything about it ruled. Exciting, hilarious, innovative. Familiar, yet fresh. I would love it if more creators would allowed to be this free and unleashed in the main line of books. I'm not sure if editorial is playing it safe, or if creators are just more cautious with the 616 stuff, but I would love a run on Avengers or Fantastic Four or Guardians proper that just goes for it like this book does.

I don't know...lately I felt the main Guardians book to get weaker. The last couple of issues has barely moved that much, I hope Bendis fixes this soon as the movie has become so popular. On the other hand both Star-Lord and Rocket series have been really good so far!

I stuck with it because I love the characters and Bendis' characterization, but his plots have been too slow and flat for me.

Wasn't planning on picking up issue 2 of Rocket Raccoon this week, but i did and i liked it more than the first issue.
The story got a bit more interesting for me and i thought the humor was better in this one.
Also liked the True Detective reference, did not expect such a reference in a book like this.

If I had to rate my feelings on the current Marvel Cosmic titles they would be as follows:
Guardians of the Galaxy - 6 out of 10 - Ever since Venom and Captain Marvel have joined the team the series has felt very scatterbrained.
Legendary Star-Lord - 7 out of 10 - So far I've surprisingly enjoyed this series, but it's still early though.
Rocket Racoon - 5 out of 10 - I like the dialouge in the book and the Easter eggs, but I could take or leave the book overall.
Nova - 6 out of 10 - This book was great unitl the All-New Marvel Now arc that involved Beta Ray Bill. I'm hoping it picks back up.
Silver Surfer- 8 out of 10 - This book has been fun since page one.
Cyclops - 9 out of 10 - This is the biggest surprise out of the bunch, and I really hate that Rucka will soon be leaving.

I read Legendary Star Lord #1 and was not blown away by the story or the art. I ended up getting the Midtown Comics variant for the cover alone but did not pick up the second issue. I disagree though with the statement about main Guardians being scatterbrained since Captain Marvel and Venom joined the team. Similar to the way Tony Stark acted off world when he was interacting with Rockets technology, I like how Venom feels out of sorts and brings that fish out of water earther story to the team. And I am loving how Flash is drawn as a human and as Venom.
As far as Rocket goes, I knew there was hype for the series so I grabbed #1 and similarly I was not blown away like some people were. I think that part of it was that I knew Scotty Young from his baby covers but didnt correlate that to what his interiors may look like so when I started to get into the story, I was kind of surprised and confused which took me out of the story a little. I loved the Easter eggs and how fun the book was but I wasnt ordering 10 more copies and giving them to my closest friends saying READ. THIS. NOW. I am going to give #1 another solid read before getting into #2 to see if I get more out of it. I love Rockets character in Guardians and in the movie of course so I am interested to see where this all goes.
I wasnt going to originally grab the 100th anniversary because I somewhat dislike one shot issues. But boy am I glad that I did. Cool story, great twist, loved the art. I WANT MORE!!! Vance Astro is awesome.

Vance Astro is awesome. It was THE BEST, right?! The best part is that it was cowritten by Ron Marz who is always at my local small con twice a year so I will definitely get it signed at one point! Woot!

I just realized that I may've stepped on the toes of this thread with the Rocket thread I just started. Totes mah bad. Hopefully they can find a way to co-exist and still remain vital.
i've been on the record before re: my feelings about Bendis' current Guardians of the Galaxy. Not a fan, to say the least. It feels like nothing happens in an issue; boring, way too decompressed and same-ol-same-ol, it just didn't grab me in any way at any point during the post-Trial of Jean Grey issues, and i've vowed (solemnly, of course) never to pick up another Bendis comic as long as I live. Rating: Utter Pants
Legendary Star-Lord - haven't read it yet, but i've heard good things? Rating: TBD
Rocket Raccoon - Again, i'm well on the record, here, but I don't at all mind repeating that this is my new favorite Big Two book, by a baker's dozen bushels of nautical miles. Just so, so goddamn funny, and original, and full of color and joy and wacky hijinks. Long may it continue. Rating: Best Thing Ever
Nova - Haven't read it; not sure if i'm going to. Ought I? Make a case. Rating: Ehhh?
Silver Surfer - I'm not the biggest Mike Allred fan; it may be blasphemy to say so, but his art generally doesn't do it for me (almost put me off Fraction's FF entirely, such is my dislike of his style), nor am I much of a Dr Who fan (I know, I know; i'm a horrible person), but there's definitely a quirky, funny, poetic spark in this book that's begun to warm my icy heart with its breezy island song. Verdict: Trade Waiting, But Coming Around
Cyclops - Haven't read it at all yet, but i've heard more and more buzz, and I do love my X-Peeps, Corsair and The Starjammers very much included, so although it's not in my stack, it is firmly on my radar. Verdict: Intrigued

Of the cosmic stuff, I'm reading and loving Silver Surfer (as a Doctor Who fan this is not only up my alley, but has come in my house, made me a cup of tea and offered to have a Tom Hiddleston movie marathon with me), and Rocket Raccoon, which is just a tremendously fun book.
I'm liking Cyclops for the Starjammers and Corsair, and definitely want to seek out other books with them now. Legendary Star-Lord didn't particularly grab me in the first issue but with the second issue it feels like a real story is developing and I like Peter Quill enough to stay with it.
The main Guardians book I'm kind of meh on now. I started off enjoying it but I feel like it hasn't gone much of anywhere for a few issues.
Haven't read Nova at all yet .

I like it okay, but I don't see what people are losing their minds about. I do like seeing everyone so happy and into something, though. Any positive excitement for any comics makes me happy. Things can get kind of negative in online comics commentary. I definitely recommend it. I've enjoyed the character from the beginning, but the stories get especially good when Gerry Duggan starts writing it. I don't care one way or the other about Doctor Who. Maybe the fact that I love this book so much is a sign that I should check it out?

I think I might have oversold my enthusiasm for the main Guardians book. I think art has been carrying it, more or less. I enjoy it, but I wish there was a more story-oriented writer on it. Bendis can be fine, and is at his beet here, but I wish Kelly Sue or someone like that would take over.
