As you point out Adam, Bleeding Cool is often just looking to stir the pot, but as my Dad used to remark "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes!"
I have to say that I'd prefer the Fantastic Four be on hiatus rather than have the core book shifted into the "Ultimate" version, or worse, transformed into twenty-somethings to replicate the new,sure-to-be-terrible film!
It would be an awfully spiteful move to cancel a title selling 30k a month just so as not to promote a film property that doesn't even resemble your book, and it's not as if all of those lost readers would automatically pick up other Marvel series to replace it. Additionally, some might drop the Marvel line entirely as a protest, so it seems like taking a hit on "20" after you've seen a raft of aces come out, but stranger things have happened!
With the Fantastic Four about to be split up in the book on stands, perhaps the title was heading for another re-start anyway, and that's the cause of the promotional "dead spot"?

Thanks for the reply Bob! It looks as if CBR is following them down the rabbit hole as well. "CBR cannot confirm the exact future of “Fantastic Four” and “Ultimate FF,” but has confirmed with multiple industry sources speaking on the condition of anonymity that a hiatus for the property is reportedly planned, at least as of recently. Plans can change, something that’s potentially more likely now that the situation has been made public. The Fantastic Four characters are said to continue appearing in other Marvel titles, just not in a specifically branded “Fantastic Four” series." www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=53158

There's a long post (#85, and far too long to re-post here!) in the "Comments" on that article detailing the FF characters up-coming appearance in the "Marvel Heroes" game; how much this matters, I have no idea, but it is interesting!

Good find Bob! Interesting read. It is strange that they would send the artist of the "75th Anniversary cards" memo's to leave out the FF but leave the gaming side to continue as normal. Speaking of the gaming side... WHERE ARE THE GAMES?!
No Avengers games, No X-Men games, No Fantastic Four games.. as a gamer I wish there was something other than the Marvel Heroes game, which in my opinion is nothing more than a Diablo clone money grab.

Overall, when I look at the stories and the information provided this feels like a lot of cirucmstantial evidence and we are just making our on connections.
- The 75th Anniversary cover could easily be explained. The 75th Anniversary is going to get ALOT of exposure in the media, so Marvel is smart wanting to only feature characters that are already prominent or future prospects in their cinematic universe. Like it or not the films are now the "bread winners" in the Marvel family. Sure FF is the flagship for what made Marvel Comics, but unfortunately time has not been kind to the first family. Spider-man makes this cover simply because he is Marvels #1 character and he proved that he holds that title with the sales numbers for ASM #1. So there is no way Marvel would distance themselves from the wall crawler.
- Another thought is that with FF only selling 65 thousand issues at its relaunch and the series sliding all the way down to 35 thousand in direct market sells, Marvels first family could stand to suffer from a little experimentation. When Hickman turned the Fantastic Four title into the FF it jumped from being a low 20k selling title to almost 54k issues a month. I believe they are going to give the first family the Peter Parker treatment and remove them from the spotlight. Once Fox has a firm grip on the FF movie I promise you that the Fantastic Four will be brought back together. I'm thinking that the June 2015 release date will get a slight push back from Fox, so we would be looking at a little over a year with no FF. Marvel will use the movie chatter and the long disappearance of the FF to try and solidify a better base for the comic franchise.
These are simply my ideas and I could be completely wrong, only time will tell, but I don't think I'm too far off center.

For what it's worth, a post last evening from Bleeding Cool that gives them the wiggle room if the Fantastic Four isn't cancelled, but still lets them have the scoop if the rumour is true. Fantastic Four Skinned
