Well played DC, I wasn't planning on picking up Batman Eternal, but Batman #28 has changed that. Fantastic issue.

Does anyone know how far this issue is along in the Batman Eternal story? Fun read though, I liked seeing Harper as Bluebird, and I'm really digging the changes to Stephs costume. If I remember right it's set between the events of issues #39 and #40. So it's quite a fair way in! Scott Snyder was teasing huge changes for the Batman books in the coming year on twitter. The ball starts rolling once Zero Year ends. Exciting times lie ahead, Batfans! I read somewhere (must be CBR) that this issue is in the mid 20's....

Some tweets from Mr Batman himself from yesterday:
@ssnyder1835: So you guys know, all of the spoilers in Batman #28 are important elements of Gotham 2014. The kingpin, the one (1/2) @ssnyder1835: ...everyone is looking for, the one in the cave. The new ally. All have big roles in Eternal, Batman, and elsewhere.& crazier shocks coming
@ssnyder1835: ZY will end in 5 issues, w/the last 4 taking place in a ruined Gotham like you've never seen. After, we'll come back to cont. (1/3) @ssnyder1835: and set up/adapt to the changes you see in #28. Going to be crazy year in gotham. Promise. The 7th is about honoring the past by (2/3) @ssnyder1835: creating characters for a new generation, and honoring past by giving favorites bold, exciting stories and statuses. Big changes coming .
Those tweets have got me pretty exited!!

Taken from batman-news.com:
"“Gotham Eternal” is a clever approach at the notorious “filler issue.” Quite simply, Batman artist Greg Capullo needed more time to complete the next installment of Zero Year but rather than delay the comic or submit something that wasn’t up to the team’s usual stellar quality the folks behind Batman hired James Tynion IV as co-writer and Dustin Nguyen as fill-in artist for a one-shot teaser of the upcoming Batman Eternal weekly series that supposedly takes place sometime between week #39 and #40. It’s a comic that tosses readers right out into the deep end of the year-long weekly limited title and it’s guaranteed to give fans a lot to talk about."

So I've been debating about picking up Batman Odyssey by Neal Adams. I feel like as a huge Batman fan I owe it to one of the legends of the industry, who was a big part of Batman, to give his book a chance, but I've mostly heard such terrible things about it. A lot of people say it's the worst comic book they've ever read, but a few say it's really good. Anyone wanna way in on this?

Batman Odyssey is really weird. Like, really, really weird. I grabbed it from the library and ended up reading about a quarter of it. I didn't end up getting further than that just because there was a bunch of other stuff in my pile that I was more interested in. I plan on going back to it one of these days. But, yeah, it's really weird.

Am i the only one that was a little disappointed this months issue was a Batman Eternal tie-in? Seriously, though, I liked the issue. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't Zero Year, and I did feel a little bit of the "crummy commercial" feeling, but the story itself was rad and had me wanting more.

It was really cool, but until I finished I just kept saying to myself, "What the hell is going on?" Then I realized. It did get me excited for Eternal though.

Just read Batman 28, and if it was DCs goal to make people interested in Eternal this way i think they've done a good job. I had no interest whatsoever in Eternal before this but if its going to be anything like this i'm excited.
But does anyone know how much Eternal is going to cost per issue? Is it going to be a dollar like the rest of DCs digital comics or is it going to be like the normal price for a single issue?(3 or 4 dollars or euro's in my case)

Sounds like there are seismic changes coming for the Batman corner of the DCU. As for cover price, it's going to be $2.99 per issue. Which for a weekly book seems to be asking a lot of people.

Mmm that's too bad, that's a deal breaker for me. I'm already spending too much on comics every month, so i'm not gonna spend that much on a weekly comic.Maybe i'll buy it when it gets a bit cheaper.

There is no way a weekly comic can have the same quality story as a monthly, but I would like to be surprised.

Heyo, No you definitely weren't the only one who was disappointed in this month's Batman #28. I enjoyed the story and would like to know what happens next BUT I'm a bit irritated that I just paid $3.99 for a comic book in a run that not only has zero to do with the story/title I paid for but isn't even a stand alone story, it's a freakin' ad for a book that's coming out months from now??? Sorry but that is just ridiculous. It's irritating enough that I gave some serious thought to dropping the title. - Beau
