With the second issue (of six? I think?) dropping this week, I felt it was a fine time to start a thread.
I LOVED the first issue, and I can't wait to see what awaits our ineffably sympathetic Flash Gordon: The Twilight Years as he, presumably, heads back out into the cosmos. Millar's writing often doesn't really do it for me (particularly as it comes to dialogue), but in the words of a good friend who turned me on to this book, you'd never know this was written by Millar if his name wasn't on the front, which in this case I mean as high complement.
Anyone else reading this? Bueller? Bueller?

I actually picked this up yesterday, but I was definitely avoiding it at first. However, I've had a lot of people recommend it, saying that it isn't like the standard Millar faire. I actually really liked the protaganist and plan to pick up the second issue.

Yeah I never would've looked twice at it if my buddy who'd already looked through it earlier in the day hadn't told me in no uncertain terms that it was right up my alley and didn't resemble Millar's status quo in the slightest. "This is a 10/10 recommendation," he said, "I will guarantee you won't regret picking it up." And he was 100% right on both counts. It was a remarkable first issue, (among other highpoints, the art is absolutely gorgeous), and i'm very much looking forward to issue two tomorrow. Also, I couldn't help running Queen's Flash Gordon soundtrack in the back of my head while reading and rereading it. And that is never, ever a bad thing

#2 was, indeed, excellent. It's shaping up to be a fun ride. It's a shame it's such a short series.

So when this series was being previewed, it was referred to as a six-issue limited series. But now i'm seeing a bunch of articles calling it an "ongoing".
AM CONFUSED.
Anyone know what the deal is?
(also, how about that gorgeous third cover, this week!! The sort-of-girl-Han Solo shot with the all white background. Magnificent.)

I had no idea it was only 6 issues! It's easily one of my top 3 pulls each month. It's gonna be over too soon

I just read issue 1 tonight after finding it in the ever-awesome 50p bins of my LCS. What a great first issue. Loved how it was set up and it didnt take long for me to care about the main character. Lovely expressive artwork too. Might pick up the rest of this series or at least wait for the trade. I want to know what happens next.

Recently heard something about plans for a movie adaptation of this book, which could be really awesome, if done right.

A fantastic mini-series. I'm very hit-or-miss Mark Millar, but this was some of his best work IMO.
