Name: Seth J. Pollock
Where I'm From: Universe, Milky Way Galaxy, Earth, North America, United States of America, just outside of Philadelphia
How I Got Into Comics: My grandparents had a basement full of comics from the 50's & 60's. They were just sitting there, piled up in plastic bags. I organized them, consumed them, and reveled in the adventures. From there, I made myself a weekly fixture on new comics Wednesday's at my LCS (Comicards in Feasterville). My longtime pull-list included mostly Marvel fare such as: X-Men (Uncanny and otherwise), Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, and FF. From DC I collected:Superman, JLA (Grant Morrison's entire run plus some), Batman, and more. At the height of my collecting, Image comics was created and I collected most of the early titles. I also dipped my toes into Valiant when it first came out with books and read X-O Manofwar, Archer & Armstrong, and Harbinger (apologies for the lengthy answer to a short question)
What I'm Reading: Well, as I am extremely limited on time due to my teaching gig and time-consuming daughters (2 1/2 & 6 years of age), I do not read nearly as much as I would like to be reading. Currently, I am working on Uncanny X-Force, Saga, Locke & Key, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye (Fraction's run), Batman (Snyder's run), and a few others. As I am still playing catch-up after years off from regular reading, the podcast has been ENORMOUSLY helpful in educating me on what is currently the out there in the way of quality comics. Thanks, gang!
Prized Geek Possession: Signed copy of American Gods, signed Invisibles #1 first printing, Bobblehead of myself as a superhero (gift from a friend)

Although you may not be long in years, it sounds like you're a "veteran" reader nonetheless, considering that treasure trove that began your comics collecting! With Mara & Matt's new "Legendary Runs" podcast and column, as well as our just-launched "Classic Arc" monthly feature, we may be hitting some of your "basement books"!

Thanks, Bob! I consider myself fairly knowledgable on a lot of material from "before my time," but certainly am far from the walking comics database that is your brain!
I have been listening to the podcast for about a year and have thought about becoming more involved on the website and forum as I feel like I know you guys. I recently shared some great tweets with Steve (my Twitter handle is "mrpoplock") and decided to jump in!

Seth, That database is getting some cracks in it, what with Marvel and DC re-booting...well, for DC it's more like re-re-re-rebooting! We're always hoping that our show sounds to you listeners as the conversation between great friends that it is, so thanks for the kind words, and have a great time interacting with our Forum family, too! ps) Sorry that I'm so late responding to your response, but having seen "Deadpool" today, I dove into a "troubled super-hero" double feature of "Hancock" and "My Super Ex-Girlfriend"! rrr

Hello Everyone,
Name: Gerald Ferguson
Where I'm From: Lorain Ohio, right by the beautiful Lake Erie
How I got into Comics: This August 2016 will mark my 5 year anniversary collecting comics. I began with DC's New 52. Just by happenstance I was online one day on a news site (I think it was MSN or something) and I saw a article of the reboot with an image of the Justice League #1 cover. That Wednesday I found a comic store by me and got it. And I have been hooked ever since.
What I'm Reading: I am currently reading all the DC Rebirth titles and loving most of them. I'm taking a little break from Marvel, with Civil War II and all the tie ins, now seems like a good time. But I fully intend to pick up the Spider-Man Clone Conspiracy in the fall. I am also playing catch up on some Image books including Saga and Paper Girls.
Prized Geek Possession: My Grandfather was a huge collector. It's from him that I got the collector bug. He collected many thing chief among them was license plates. He had hundreds of them from all over the world. He loved them so much he eventually would be president of the license plate association he belonged to. But other things he collected included bank notes, coins, model trains, and Civil War artifacts. But he also collected a few comic items. When he passed in 2014 my Grandma gave them to me since I really like comics. One of them is a Dick Tracy Stein. And the other is a binder full of letters, and drawings of comic strip characters done by their creators, including a few by Mr. Charles M. Schulz. These items are worth more to me then any comic book I have purchased in the last 5 years.
I look forward to all kinds of comic book discussions with people who love them as much as I do.

Gerald, Welcome to the Forum--and pardon me for being tardy. That binder is a treasure to be passed down, generation to generation! The "Rebirth-ed" characters must seem very different to your eyes, so I'm thrilled to see that you're enjoying them. Don't tell anyone...but I'm mostly skipping CW II, too. (Two, too...I've become a toy train in my old age!)

Hi I'm Palaba, (all soft As rhymes with Grenada)
Yes it's my screen name but people have been calling me Palaba since I was a kid, it just happens to be a great unused screen name too!
Where I'm From: Baltimore, MD (still here)
How I Got Into Comics: In the 80s I would walk to the 7eleven with whatever spare change I could find. Graduated to trades at the library until I discovered Steve Geppi's comic store on a bus route.
What I'm Reading: Far too much to list. I love Marvel Unlimited, I trade read almost any image title I read good things about. Left DC after new 52 (except for Gotham Academy) have now returned for Wonder Woman and Dective (I'm one of those Steph Brown fanatics) I am also one of those crazy X-Men fans so I'm reading all thoes titles despite their current quality. Right now my favorite titles are Ms Marvel, Saga and Paper Girls.
Prized Geek Possession: I don't really have one. I'm more of a reader than a collector. I have a few omnibus' which dont leave the house, but I love lending out books to be read. I'd say my prized possession is whatever books are loaned out right now as I love talking comics (see what I did there?)

In the current marketplace, I think you're so much better off being a "reader" rather than a "collector", as you can steer clear of those publishers' gimmicks that are trying to separate you from your money and instead concentrate on those books that you love!
