Having just had the Oscars and a recent thread discussing the possibility of a Comic Book Movie winning an Oscar, within the limited realm of the Comic Book Movie: Who would you award Best Actor/Actress? Any other Awards you'd give out?
As far as taking over a role and putting in a performance, I find Chris Evans as Captain America to be the most impressive. He looks the part but also manages to compound that Cap vibe from many different iterations.

I wasn't sure going into that first film, as although he's a fine actor, I wasn't certain that he had that special something that the role of Captain America requires to infuse it with the "old-fashionedness " it needs while keeping it above parody; boy, was I off-base! On the "Best Actress" side, I'd be torn between Emma Stone's feisty Gwen Stacy and Famke Janssen's Jean Grey, a performance that displayed the character's combination of intelligence, courage and self-sacrifice, as well as a deep underlying sadness that suggests a fore-knowledge of the events to come. I'd also cast a vote for a performance that most of you haven't seen, and that was Rebecca Staab as Susan Storm in the Oley Sassone/Roger Corman Fantastic Four! She was absolutely perfect in portraying a character that despite her new altered circumstance remains the calm center for her family and friends!

I think you have to go with Hiddleston for best actor and Scarlet Johansson for best actress, they both personify their characters.

If Chris Evans has your approval then he's a shoe-in... now I just have to appear on his doorstep with a stolen Oscar statuette with a little cape attached. Great shout for Emma Stone and Famke Janssen too. I concur. I will have to get to viewing that lost FF movie. I still haven't seen the updated ones either. Real shame about Doom being a missed opportunity as I have a soft-spot for Julian McMahon from the bonkers mess that was Nip/Tuck. Another duo that I totally forgot embodied two characters very close to my heart; Ron Perlman as Hellboy and Linda Blair as Liz Sherman. I was already a huge Hellboy fan before the movies but afterwards I can't read any dialogue without hearing either of their voices. The movie Hellboy universe is slightly different but their interaction was key to the heart of that movie. Big shout to Doug Jones as Abe Sapien too, although the movie version was a little too C3PO for my liking.

On the flip-side: Christopher Eccleston was amazingly drab as Malekith in Thor: The Dark World. Not sure if his part was cut drastically, but if anyone has ever phoned in a Marvel performance... I'm still not totally sold on Scarlet Johansson as I feel she hasn't gotten enough screen time as Widow. She got the lion's share of the opening in Avengers which was great and the exchange between her and Hawkeye was lovely though brief. Hopefully she'll get more in Cap 2 and we'll be set for a Black Widow solo.
