Kelly Sue DeConnick's Captain Marvel is set to re-launch in a couple of weeks (March 17th) and there has been some interviews and articles discussing the changes to the book. I really loved DeConnick's treatment of the character in the first volume so I am looking forward to having Carol Danvers back in a headlining role.
I am, however, not really interested in the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe so am left wondering if I will continue to connect to the book as much as DeConnick takes Danvers away from the meticulously crafted neighbourhood in New York and into outerspace.
Also, I think I am really going to miss Filipe Andrade's art - which I grew to love despite being really taken aback by it when I first saw it in issue 8. I mean no disrespect to David Lopez, who's art looks very nice in the previews, but it is quite a departure back to a cleaner style.
Are the Carol Corps on the boards here? Are people looking forward the new Captain Marvel?

I just started reading this through Comixology and I like it so far. I will definitely pick up the relaunch when it comes out.

For me Filipe Andrade being gone is one of the things I really look forward to. I loved everything about the book before he got on and only stayed because of the writing. I know people really enjoy his art but I never got around to liking it. I almost dropped the book because of the art actually. Really looking forward to the new chapter for Carol though!

"R", I share some of your trepidations, but my understanding is that we will see some of the old cast now-and-again, and perhaps more frequently moving forward into future arcs, providing the book performs well. I believe that Carol (and Kelly Sue!) will get us through whatever the path-way!

Courtney, I'm so glad that you've picked up and are enjoying Captain Marvel! After you've read through the series, I'd love to compare notes on your feelings about #14 & #17, my two favorite single comics of the year from ANY series!

I understand the weariness given that a lot of characters can seem lost in the space books but I've got a lot of faith in Kelly Sue DeConnick's ability to pull this off. Regardless it'll be hard to shake me off this book once its out. I agree on Andrade's art. I felt it added another perspective. Soy's art is dreamy but stern and worked perfectly for the female flying squadron story among other things. Rios has a very intimate style which kept the character progression ticking along and has some achingly poignant panels. Naturally the softer, more cartoonish art of Andrade was a bold choice but conveyed compassion in the stories without taking the edge off (Deathbird is creepy as hell). The art of Soy, Rios, and Andrade demands attention. Perfectly fitted to this book. On a side note, there are fewer cooler panels in anyone's books than when Carol's mask/helmet forms over her face.

I started reading the previous volume just a couple months ago (all I'm missing to read are the Infinity tie-ins) and over-all I like it!....I will definitely picking up the new volume.

As most fans of the site know, I listed Captain Marvel as my number 1 comic of 2012 (though it slipped to #9 on this years list), so definitely color me excited for this new run. I'm all for whatever Kelly brings to the table, she hasn't let me down yet.

Cap'n, it is most definitely an error, and one that Kelly Sue DeConnick and Marvel have been trying to have corrected, and yet here it is again! Always keep in mind that as I love the book, it may end at any second, but it isn't planned as a mini-series!

Bob, FYI, I just read through #14 and wow. I was not expecting that but it totally fit the character. I am very interested to read the next issue and see how Carol has changed, and I'm even more excited for the new series now!

Bob, FYI, I just read through #14 and wow. I was not expecting that but it totally fit the character. I am very interested to read the next issue and see how Carol has changed, and I'm even more excited for the new series now! Courtney, From that wonderful cover by Joe Quinones that reflects Carol's history, to that finale by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Scott Hepburn that marks its end, Captain Marvel #14 is one of the best single comic books that I've ever read, yet amazingly Ms. DeConnick (and Filipe Andrade) matched it with issue #17! As you say, Carol's decision was so in keeping with what Ms. DeConnick had built up of her character, personality and motivations, that it seemed inevitable for her to make that choice, and yet I found myself thinking "No! Don't do it!" The last two pages, with Kit's joyful "See Mom, I told you! Captain Marvel always saves the day!", through to this amazing "epitaph", are truly wonderments: "We tell her that heroes aren't defined by their powers or their costumes...but by the contents of their hearts."
"We tell her that we don't know what Carol's going to be like when she comes back. She might not remember us. She might not even remember herself...but we will know. We will know the light she has inside her because she showed us all today."
"We will know...She's Captain Marvel...She's our hero."
(Courtney, issues #15 and #16 are the "Infinity" cross-overs, which were very well done and show you the damage that's been done to Carol, and are important to how the series will conclude in #17. They may not seem related, but they do illuminate the depth of her sacrifice!)

I'm very excited for the series to return. I just got caught up about a week ago. Now all anyone has to do to make me well up is say the phrase "Captain Marvel lessons."

I was curious if you guys think they will ever bring back the original Captain Marvel? I know he has popped up every now and then, but I would like to see an official return to the Marvel Universe.
