I read She-Hulk and flat out loved it. Even though she's an established character, Soule wrote a first issue that's good for new fans as well as old. It was funny and smart. Another solid offering from Marvel featuring a female lead. Nice work, Marvel NOW.
On the other hand, I also read X Factor #3 and felt hardly any love for it. I liked the early pages with Havok and Quicksilver, but I cannot, no matter how hard I try, no matter how good the creative team is, bring myself to like Gambit. He's a character I just never enjoyed and it doesn't help that Peter David doesn't seem to have his voice yet, either, which is unfortunate since he's basically the point of view character of this arc. I don't know, I'm not buying a whole lot of books now so I might give this title a few more issues, but so far it hasn't won me over. Something very special is going to have to happen by issue #5 or so, or this book's off my pull list.

Yep i also said it on the She-Hulk thread, but i love this. This and a couple of Red Lanterns issues are the only thing i've read of Charles Soule so far but i really like his writing and i need to check out more of his stuff, fortunately he's on a lot of books lately so he's hard to miss . Haven't read anything else yet.
His Swamp Thing is great. You should really check it out. He's a laywer by trade, so he should be a perfect fit with She-Hulk. She-Hulk, Superior Spider-Man, and Batman were my favs this week. I had dropped Batman (Zero Year is so meh), but I heard the "Spoilers" so went ahead and picked it up. Squeal!

Heyo, So this is what I picked up this week that was 'new': Superman/Wonder Woman #5 Night of the Living DeadPool #1 and #2 Injustice Gods Among Us: Year Two #2 Green Lantern/Red Lantern #28 Legenderry #2 Letter 44 #4 New Avengers #14 Justice League of America #12 Batman #28 Batgirl #28 Suicide Squad #28 2 of the titles, NotLD and Injustice were impulse buys. Though I'm now firmly on board with them for as long as they last. NotLD is a seriously great read, especially for someone who is tired of the normal Zombie drama. The way they poke fun at all the usual zombie tropes as well as zombie pop culture is just a riot. There a great panel on page 4 where they've got word balloons covering the head of a pop icon(not going to give it away here but it's a super nifty little touch). Of the rest of them I'm most excited to read Batgirl, Suicide Squad, Legenderry and Letter 44. I'm hoping New Avengers will finally start to pick up some momentum as it's been basically the same thing for the past several issues. - Beau Well I managed to finish off the last 4 comics from my stack this week last night before bed. I'm definitely giving my book of the week nod to Legenderry #2. This comic is wonderful. It's unlike anything I've ever read before with the steampunk atmosphere. The story is entertaining and they've brought in some classic characters to play around with. The word choice and sentence structure is superb. And the art...wow, I just love it. The art "feels" Victorian, if that makes sense? The colors are spot on, but what really sets off the art is the ink work. The lines around the characters are so bold they almost set the characters apart from the background, there's one page where it almost feels like someone put paper cut outs on the page. You can almost imagine the inking being done with a fountain pen due to the thickness, scratchiness, and almost scrawling feel it has at times.(do you get the sense that I love the inking?) I'm not one that always pays attention to things like the coloring or the inking, or even the language, I often just get lost in the story and form of the art, so for me to stop and go - Wow! on the inking, well Wow! Anyone else reading this title? - Beau ps: Batgirl was also enjoyable, and I thought the flipbook with Green/Red Lantern was very well done considering those types of things can be sort of gimmicky. The story really did work in both titles AND it was only $2.99 still! Also, got a little further along on Letter 44, definitely enough to keep me coming back. JLA unfortunately wasn't all that great IMO. I'm kind of ready for them to stop being always one step behind, always one breath away from death. While I know that is often the tension in a comic book, after awhile you kind of want to see the heroes, ya know, be heroes and smack someone or make some progress - something.(see my takes on the New Avengers #14 in the Marvel thread for what I mean)

I picked up 4 books all were great
Batman #28 has men really excited for Batman: Eternal (even though i intend to read in trade. unless i get a job soon)
All-New X-men #23 was a really fun read, i liked the comedy in this issue, however there was a bit of gamora's dialogue when she was speaking to x-23 was a bit off.
Deadpool #23 this IS the funniest book out there but that is not the only reason i like it, it has an amazing story. The first 2 arcs had an alright story, but i sticked with it and with the last arcs it has become an even better book.
But my book of the week is She-Hulk #1, the lawyer talk was really good (and that is coming from a 15 year old who hasn't finished school and doesn't anything about lawyers apart from that She-Hulk and Daredevil are lawyers). The art work suited the book really well and is by far the best #1 for a book i have read in a long time.

I'm a little late to the game on Superior Spider-Man's Darkest Hour arc, but I really thought it was something special. I'd gotten worn out on SSM, as a huge Peter Parker fan it just got annoying. Despite Otto-Spidey getting on my nerves more recently, I thought seeing him fight The Avengers and Venom was a blast, and of course the art by Humberto Ramos was just incredible. This arc had been sitting in my pull box at my LCS so I picked it up in one go and read it in one shot. Made me excited for whats next in the Spidey Universe and for what Slott has planned for the new Amazing Spider-Man this year.

I met Charles Soule about a week ago down here in Orlando and as I told him, it seems anything he touches turns to gold. He's one of the guys that if I hear they are in a book I'll absolutely give it a shot. I also think that the fact that he is in fact a real lawyer helps with She-Hulk. For someone insanely busy, I think he's got 6 ongoings right now, he really knows how to tell a great story. In looking forward to more.
