Is anyone reading Gail Simone's Red Sonja? Dynamite has a pretty awesome sell on Comixology right now and was considering getting the first arc.

I just started on it, prompted mostly by Bob's rave reviews, my life-long love of the Conanverse, and because my buddy Jake has recommended it to me several times (saying "It's the only thing Gail Simone is good on" his words, not mine), and although I wasn't too enamored with the first arc, I absolutely adore this current arc, and i've just this week added it to my pull list.
The humor in this arc is right up my alley, and I dig the way the story is set up, with Sonja searching for the greatest specialists in the world and such; it's perfect episodic storytelling. And of course THOSE COVERS . . hot damn. Good stuff; i'm very glad to have found it.

Tony, Red Sonja is one of the books I most look forward to each month, and considering that I wasn't a fan of the character coming into this series, that's some progress in a little under a year! I'm glad my rantings worked out for you!

Reading it, loving it, got the first arc single-issues signed by Mrs. Simone at BCC. Love the Frisson covers, of course, but I think my favorite was the Amy Reeder cover, in no small part because she detailed her coloring process on her blog. Good stuff, by Crom!
Very happy Mrs. Simone decided to not only do away with the whole 'No man shall bed me until they beat me at swordplay', but turned it on its head with Osric.
The arc has ended at this point, but I'd love for some writer down the road to revisit the specialists at some point in time.

It was a great arc, wasn't it. Very satisfying ending, too. Excited to see where she's off to now
