The first issue of the new volume of the punisher came out today. As a big fan of the punisher I had to go out and buy a physical copy which is generally unheard of from me. I just finished it and I loved it.
It has the beginning of a very interesting story, punisher is going to be going up against some nasty folks, I should have seen it coming but the reveal at the end somehow caught me by surprise and got an awesome man grunt "oooooh". I also had some good chuckles out of the book, I love the integration of humor with the intense action and violence.

I've never read a punisher series issue by issue. In truth I have only read ruckas run. So I picked this up hopeful that it would pull me in. It did. I thought it was awesome. I've read some reviews that said it felt like same Old same old, but for me, being new to it, I thought it was awesome

I had this and Loki on my 50/50 list, I decided to wait and see what reviews on both were. Might have to pick this up next week and check it out.

Punisher is a great character, if done right i think. That Rucka run is so amazing, one the best runs of a comic i've read.
I have not read the latest one but i'm gonna eventually. I'm just one issue into Matt Fraction's Punisher War Journal but that looks like a enjoyable series so i'm going to read the whole thing i think.

Just read # 1 It was awesome! I exclaimed "Damn!!" A couple times. That's a good sign out of a punisher book. Can't wait for # 2

I've read very little Punisher in my time reading Marvel comics, but I must admit I really enjoyed this #1 and the art was spot on for this series.

I went back and re-read it, which is something I don't typically do. I just love this, I'm so excited for what's about to come.

I'm reading through rucka's run for the first time, just got to issue #7. I was so excited when they used the actual story from when punisher and daredevil actually met the first time. The second they started the flashback and talked about the tainted aspirin I got a grin on my face. Very well executed, I can see why everyone loves this story so much!

Rucka's run, alongside Ennis' Punisher Max were probably the best runs of the character I've ever read. That said, I am enjoying the current series. I love the team (huge The Activity fan) and its got a nice set-up so far. It may not be blowing my pants off yet, but I'll take a solid Punisher series ANY day of the week.

So I heard in the podcast that it is written by the same person that is doing Black Widow.
I am really liking Black Widow story but the best thing I like about it is that each issue has a begin, middle, and end.
It is the same reason I am getting Hawkeye in single issues unlike everything else I get that is in hard back or paper back form.
Is this series written for the single issue format in mind?

So far it is not in that format, it is an ongoing story. At least in the 1st issue, I haven't picked up #2 today because I haven't had a chance, but I would have to assume that is the case considering how issue #1 went.

Just read the issue, it feels more like an ongoing story rather than the Edmonson-y one-and-done story that he's currently doing with Black Widow. Great issue though.

So far so good in my opinion. I liked what the first two issues did and how they did it. It's on my pull list even if it is an unspectacular book at the moment. I like Nathan Edmondson and have faith that he will deliver a quality series. Excited for issue #3 tomorrow.
You have to admit that both the Punisher and Black Widow have some similarities as characters and with Edmondson writing both series (and Black Widow being excellent) with book is bound to be at least decent.
