I spent lunch time today going through the 50p bins in my LCS. Picked up some cool stuff: Rat Queens no.1, Rocket Girl no.1, 3 issues of Transformers Regeneration one (I'm collecting all the covers), various issues of Revival and Saga and a load of other stuff that just looked worth a try. Seems to me to be a good way of getting into stuff. Eapecially for someone like me who tends to stick to the same stuff. I'll definitely be checking out the trade for Rocket Girl. Loved that issue. Rat Queens was also cool. I mainly picked up stuff I heard talked about on the podcast..

So I decided to put together an avengers run and I picked up Avengers #14 and #18 at BCC. It's honestly amazing how racist 18, I mean starting with the cover...

A little while back I mentioned to my LCS owner that I was starting to collect old Cloak and Dagger issues, and he said he'd be on the look out for me. Well, today I got a surprise in my sub - all the issues of their solo bi-monthly title! They're not in sterling condition, but I was really happy to get them and finally be able to read these stories.

My most recent acquisitions have been Judge Dredd vs. Predator vs. Aliens, Scalped vol. 6, and the new Wonton Soup collection, which collects both volumes of James Stokoe's Wonton Soup. The Judge Dredd comic is actually my first ever Judge Dredd comic that I've read, and so far, I'm enjoying it a lot, breezing through it like I'm watching a kick-ass Dredd animated TV show. I'll definitely now be interested to read more Judge Dredd stuff in the future. I can't wait to start reading Wonton Soup as well, as Stokoe's art is excellent, and the art and plot of Wonton Soup reminds me of something like the game Rayman Origins, with all the crazy, imaginative food-related visuals.

Just bought Ricky Rouse Has a Gun and Volume 1 of God Hates Astronauts. I like the humour of both the books, and apparently God Hates Astronauts has Jesus-like superpowers, according to Jonathan Hickman anyway. A quick look at the creator of Ricky Rouse Has a Gun, Jorg Tittel, on the internet, reveals that he's some sort of master of the arts, as he's on the BAFTA board, a director of short films and successful plays, has worked on video games, written for video game magazines, acted in plays, and has his own transmedia production company. He sounds like some kind of media wizard.
