Heyo, There is already a thread for buys and deals, but it seems more like an 'alert' type thread where people can share sales and such. So this thread is created as a way to share your recently acquired gems. I'm sure there are some of you who, like me, still get a thrill from the collectible aspect of comics. Hunting through shops to find the last issue needed in a run. Looking for that obscure variant cover. Snagging some cool looking old(or new) comic from the back stock issues. Well here is your chance to tell us all what you got. Today in the mail I received: Fantastic Four Annual #3. It is my 2nd oldest FF issue, as it was published in November 1965. My #39 was published in June 1965, so this was pretty exciting. I can't wait to read it, though I'm going to wait until I've got a nice quiet house and an hour or so as it's "72 BIG PAGES" "Sensational: "The Wedding of Sue and Reed!" "Featuring: The world's most colossal collection of costumed characters, crazily cavorting and capering in continual combat!" "This is the Big One!" - Beau

Heyo, Didn't check my mailbox yesterday and I should have! Waiting patiently inside were the following: Fantastic Four #93, 94, 95, 101, 102, 103, 105, 107, and 115 Between that and my Fantastic Four Annual #3 I posted about earlier I think that's going to do it for the more expensive older issues for awhile. I'll have to concentrate on picking up the remaining 2 issues of Thunderbolts, the remaining 2 issues of a Heroes For Hire run, and then start on the remaining issues of Fables I need. Still I just got some excellent reading, especially #93 where I can finally read the conclusion to the story arc that I started 28 years ago when I bought Fantastic Four #90, 91, and 92. It is the conclusion to the 'Gangster Planet' arc. I might have to wait until I've got a quiet night alone with a nice scotch before completing that journey.(and of course I'll have to pull out the first 3 in the arc to re-read them before the grand finale!) (mine is much nicer than the picture above) - Beau

When I read these issues years ago, I had no idea that i was reading the last great Jack Kirby Fantastic Four issues, as he would be gone less than a year later!

So now with 300 in the collection does that mean you are working on the 300-400 range? - Beau

I currently have ASM 400-700 and now I'm working my way up from 300 (or down...either way works for me). I'm a Spider-Fan through and through and I've already collected all of the side runs (Spectacular, Peter Parker ect) so now I'm trying to collect all of Amazing.

I've actually been doing something very similar to you. I've almost completed Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-man / Spectacular SPider-man Vol.1 and I'm about half way done with Marvel Team Up Vol.1. However, for Amazing Spider-man I'm only collecting the key issues on the original series and then filling in the gaps with Marvel Tales reprints.

Heyo,
Stopped into an LCS that I go to as my last resort stop. I've got numerous LCS's in my area and this one has the absolute worst customer service so I don't really like going in there, unfortunately it also has by far the largest selection which means when I've exhausted my other stores I sometimes have to go to this one.
It was a successful trip thought as I found a copy of Heroes for Hire (1997) #18 which means I only need #10 to have put together the entire run of Heroes for Hire (1997), (2006), and (2011) and then I can begin reading them!
Beyond that though, and even more exciting was a copy of Thunderbolts (1997) #151. This was the last issue I needed to complete the run, which includes the New Thunderbolts portion and the Dark Avengers portion. So basically #1-190. I've been working at this for about a year so it's nice to take the final step in the run. Probably going to take quite awhile to read 'em all now!

Heyo, Got some more stuff in the mail the other day. I've always like 'old' annuals as they were usually a great way to read a one and done story, sometimes two, about a character. I don't really have many Thor comics except for 12 issues of the 2007 run, so I saw these and just had to pick them up. Thor Annual #3(originally called 'King-Size Special!'), Annual #5, #7 and #8. Seems like 5,7, and 8 are all about Thor battling other people's gods - the Greeks, Greeks again, and the Incans. Should be fun reads, and I just love seeing old books in fantastic condition. Speaking of condition....I also picked up The Tomb of Dracula #70, which is the last issue of that series from 1979. This thing is beautiful, super deep blues, blacks, and purples on cover. Unfortunately I'm not sure why I picked it up as I've never read any of the Tomb of Dracula stuff. Anyone else ever read Tomb of Dracula? Would it be worth seeing if they have any collected editions or anything? Not sure I really want(or can afford) to go tracking down all the other back issues as that could get pretty pricey and I've got a lot of other issues to already track down. Thoughts on Tomb of Dracula? - Beau

Involving stories and a wonderfully-layered characterization of the lead by Marv Wolfman, and spectacularly moody art by the great Gene Colan make this a must-read comic for horror fans! I did a piece last Halloween about ToD: talkingcomicbooks.com/2012/11/16/marvels-tomb-of-dracula-and-the-artistry-of-marv-wolfman-gene-colan/ that you might want to check out! Bob ps)I own all the original issues, and I've debated about buying the B&W "Essentials" volume just to have Mr. Colan's art sans color! rrr

I'll definitely check out your article. If it comes down to buying them issue by issue I might have to do that as I'm not a big fan of black and white. I'm heading to one of my LCS's right now so maybe I'll see what they've got available. Problem is I've got several other series I'm working on, Fables, Iron Fist, of course FF, but sometime also Spectacular Spider-Man. Arrrggg too much... - Beau

There are Omnibus volumes, but those are real committments!
