I agree with the general consensus that this looks like a good movie, just not a Fantastic Four movie. Which is a huge shame because if it is a good movie its gonna be weighed down by the fact that its an unfaithful interpretation and nothing more.
Whats funny is this has me more excited than the Ant-Man trailer does. This looks very risky. Ant-Man looks very safe.
I know hindsight and what-ifs? are pointless, but I'm curious to know how this would have played out had it been released at the same time and instead of the first X-Men movie.
And speaking of, this is kiiiiiind of a shameful thing to admit but who cares each to their own... But I love the X-Men movies way more than X-Men comics.
I know.
But I can't read the comics because the films do more for me. Every time I watch X-Men, X2, First Class and DOFP I want to read X-Men comics but am always disappointed. And I don't get that with anything else. The entire MCU, the Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel and the previous Superman movies. All movies I absolutely love, and the comics I love as much and love both the similarities and differences and can seperate each of them as their own thing. I just do not enjoy reading X-Men.
I feel like I'm eating my words because all I've done is doubt this movie. But I'm wondering if this movie will do the same? Because I've tried reading FF comics before and just not really gotten into them.
I know its a shame that movies can't stay close to the source material. But if it gets a fan out of someone, even if its not the TRUE version, surely thats a good thing? Because the X-Men movies may not have been faithful and I may not read X-Men comics. But that first movie is half the reason I read comics. If this FF movie does that for some other kid, thats a good thing. This will be their FF.
