I picked this book up originally because it was set in ancient Greece and involved Sparta. Its funny because it was a book that I flipped through at the store and it totally didnt seem like my cup of tea are and panel progression wise but I gave it a shot anyways. Issue #4 was released 2 weeks ago (I may be wrong) but I am totally digging this book! The art is pretty cool, the way that they portray the action is unique and the story is cool. Anyone else reading this title?

I'm reading this, I'm a bit of an ancient history nerd so it's right up my alley. Good to see a more realistic take on Sparta.

Well I am not much of a salesman but I can say that the writer did some research on the authenticity of the story with a professor of ancient Greek history so there is alot of validity there. Its great though because although the setting and characters feel authentic to the period, the story is definitely a comic book story with the panel flow and action per issue. I just love the diversity of the titles I read and this is a welcomed read each month. On top of all of that, it is great being a unique story at the $2.99 price point.

So........funny story about this one. I read issue #5 last night and say to myself this story seems to be speeding towards somewhat of a final end which was odd because it was only issue #5. So I close the book thinking nahhh maybe its just the end of the story arc but NO! It was just a mini series the whole time! The solicits (or the ones that I saw anyways) had nothing mentioning that it was a mini so here I am digging in for the long haul and its over. Still a great entertaining story but I am kind of disappointed because if I knew it was a mini I would have trade waited for sure.

I had the same feeling, when I picked it up at the shop the LCS owner remarked on how large the issue was for 2.99 book, and was it the last issue? I assumed it would be ongoing. That said, it was a great realistic end to the story. I love Kieran Gillens writing, hope he does a similar style historical book in the future.

I want this creative team and setting I guess to continue somehow! Maybe a spinoff series with the kids as they get older or something else because it was fun!

I also read this. I think the abrupt ending was part of the point of the story, because there was no way these Heliots were going to overtake the Spartans; instead, the Spartans would eventually do themselves in years later.
The art was spectacular and I loved the discussions in the back.
