Can anyone tell me why the Midnighter book is suffering sales numbers? it is such a great book, and is very similar in tone to Grayson... if this goes I am going to be very upset
I hope it is not to with the fact that the main character is gay

I'd really like to think the low sales have nothing to do with Midnighter's sexuality.
I believe that there are a few issues that have effected Midnighter from the get go. First off the character itself, I feel like a lot of people just saw him as just a Batman rip-off who didn't really have a lot of depth. The next issue the series would of encountered is that the creators weren't big names and didn't have a huge following to bring in with them, obviously this does not mean the creators aren't good but it means they wouldn't of had much of a platform to build the title upon.
I think the third issue is just that I don't think the book has been promoted enough. From searching out reviews it seems like the book has been fantastic so far, however I don't see anyone actively promoting it. Other than the original advertising campaign from DC for DCYou I haven't seen DC push people toward Midnighter, and to be honest on all the podcasts and comic book sites I visit I haven't really seen/heard anyone go out of their way to really highlight Midnighter to their audiences. Yes some sites review the book, but I find with some sites they have so many reviews go up that so many titles just get lost in the shuffle. In order to really highlight a book like Midnighter I think review sites would need really draw peoples attention to the book either by focusing on it in some way other than just posting a rview.
I am one of those people who hasn't read the book because I didn't really have too much interest in the character and I was not familiar with the creative team. I have heard great things about the book but now I am at the point where I can't afford to add another book to my pull list so I will be purchasing the trade when it comes out in March next year.

Thank for responding and letting me know what your think. The only podcast I listen to is the DCR podcast and Sean in the loves the book. however their recaps are a little behind so that has not helped. i hope you enjoy the trade when you get it!! i can recommend this book enough (however I was also one of the supporters of The Movement... and we all see where that went) regards

I am actually quite impressed with how fast DC is getting the first volume out for Midnighter.

I loved this book so glad it's getting a follow up mini series - and now Steve Orlando is doing so many DC books so well done to him.
