Hey Guys!
Has anyone ever been to or has thought of going to the Thought Bubble Festival. Its held in Leeds in the UK every November and although its pretty freezing it is legit the best convention on our fair isle.
The staff there have unlimited patience are so lovely and helpful and always doing the best to make sure your con is amazing. Con goers are all people who love sequential art and even at its busiest you can still manage to get through to each table and have lengthy chats with all the wonderful creators. The only thing that is long are the queues for the top creators but if you want stuff signed they all seem to be really grateful you waited to see them (even though I've never queued for top name people before)
They usually hold panels which, as long as you are around at that time you can usually get into (the staff will do their best to get everyone in) Image and Marvel usually have a panel or two as well as certain books/creators or just people talking about Women/Diversity/All Ages etc in comics plus there is a mid-con party if you get your tickets early enough so you can mingle with creators and fans in Leeds city centre.
This year the guest-list so far includes:
Kate Beaton Rick Remender Noelle Stevenson John Allison Becky Cloonan Wes Craig Kieron Gillen (Gillen & McKelvie are kind of the patron saints of Thought Bubble) Jamie McKelvie Jock Ales Kot Jeff Lemire Kate Leth Amy Reeder Emma Rios Scott Synder Sean Phillips
Interested to know if anyone has gone what they thought of it and if you are going again next time perhaps have a little talking comics representation.

I am very tempted but will wait on the event schedule to be released before I decide as I am at the opposite end of the country so I couldn't do the full week but an extended w/end to see some of those creators sounds awesome to me!

I'm only going for the comic convention on the weekend, so you wouldn't be alone there!
Hoping to score some interviews for TC while I'm there. Already had a tentative yes from Jeff Lemire, just need to double check with him when I'm there to see if he can make time for me.
I'll probably do some Periscope broadcasts via the TC account from there, too.

I've been to this for the last 3 years and agree it's awesome. They always have a great array of guests and it's a very welcoming show too. There really is something for everyone. Pretty sure I'm going again this year.

We'll all have to make a point of meeting up and saying hello to each other!
Always great to meet more folk from the TC community.

Well I'm shocked to say that it is looking very possible now, managed to convince Wifey that Leeds would be an awesome venue for a birthday w/end away for her - looks like I'll only get one day at the con as the crazy girl wants to do stuff that interests her one day... bloody cheek!
I know I shouldn't be but was surprised that pretty much all the hotels near the venue are completely booked, I'm thinking of crashing my cousins either in Sheffield or Manchester but then I guess traffic / parking will be crazy on the Saturday, definitely need a plan of attack.

Thankfully I managed to bag a room in the Hilton that is the official hotel for the con. I hear rooms get booked up crazy fast once tickets go on sale. Hope you manage to get there!

If you are driving in the Village Urban Resort Leeds South is really great stayed there few times now, less than 20 min drive from the Royal Armouries where the event is held which has a car park on site. Not been to any of the other stuff during the week, tbh two days of con is enough for my poor feet, so much to see so many people to talk to
