I didn't really care for the art except for the mechanical designs. Wish I could explain what it was, but there was just something about it that wasn't my bag. I came away thinking this would be great to pick up as a trade as there is a lot of potential (the premise is very interesting!) but this one was oversized (40 pages) and still felt incomplete to me so I don't think this would be something I would buy month to month. This feels like it needs to be read either in collections or as a graphic novel or something.
that said, this felt like the opening to a movie. the time-transition felt similar to things like the Magneto introduction in the X-Men movies (as an example that leapt to mind quickly). I think it worked pretty well.
so I guess to sum it all up I did like it, but don't think the month to month format will do it a lot of good. it might be on my christmas list as a trade once there is an entire story arc to sink my teeth into.

I enjoyed it enough to pick up the next issue. The way BKV built up America to be the evil bad guys definitely leads me to think there's going to be an interesting twist somewhere along the lines, especially with some of the opening dialogue with the mum and the drone thing targeting there house. The art was decent, I did think I was reading an Avatar book in places.
