Im very excited about Anka being the artist of this book i love his stuff, also his redesign looks really kick-ass. cant say much about the writers, i liked the Agent Carter series, but it didnt blew me away, and i havent watched/read anything else they did.
so i will come for the art and hopefully stay for the Story.

I'm thankful for Kelly Sue's work on the character and bringing the legacy of the Captain Marvel title back to the forefront on Marvel Comics. Ever since the Death of Captain Marvel OGN the character/title has been mostly ignored. However, as Kelly Sue's second volume has progressed I've become less and less interested in the title, with the exception being issue #15. I feel that Kelly seemed to become more interested in here creator own properties, which is perfectly fine and understandable, but it was time for the mantle to be passed.

I do like Chris Anka a lot. But TV people don´t always do great in comics, see Green Arrow.

Love the artwork and have only read 2 issues of Kelly Sue's run so based purely on the art I might take a look, the big question for me... is she wearing a Bum Bag?!?

meh, the short hair disappoints me! I love carol's long blonde hair! she still looks great, i just always like long hair. Anka is a good artist, i just find most of his work to be a bit boring. He usually gets big books like xmen, and now captain marvel which have huge visual crazyness, and i often am underwhelmed at him bringing the "epic" to his books. Of course i will read it and hope he proves me wrong this time around, but his entire xmen run left me wanting better more exciting art.

I will be looking at this just like the rest of the new marvel stuff set to hit this fall... Read a couple of issues and then decide... Costume re-designs seem to be the trend now so it's not a real big deal for me, but seeing how the character is handled will be what I base my decision on.

Bob, That's exactly how I'm approaching this entire marvel re-boot, or whatever they are labeling it. After looking at the solicits, I have about 3-4 books that will get a long leash with me because they are either continuing with the same creative team as before Secret Wars (spider-woman, inhuman, & Thor) or it is my favorite character (amazing spider-man). I have high expectations for others on the list, including this, and expect my pull to grow, but I'm not beholden to any of them like I have been in the past.

I'm a bit concerned about this new series for a couple of reasons:
1) The new writing team was recruited by Marvel, they didn't pitch for the book, so I think they'll be beholden to editorial mandates instead of bringing a fresh perspective to Carol.
2) They are show runners on a series in production--I'll be surprised if they last beyond the first arc.
3) This really feels like stunt-casting on Marvel's part to bring attention to a property they need to raise public awareness for due to announcing the movie. I worry they're more concerned about raising Carol's public profile (and sales numbers) than developing her story.
4) Marvel still has not assigned a strong artist to the series (sorry, I just feel that both Lopez and Anka are capable but bland visual storytellers)
5) Due to the upcoming movie, I fear the editorial oversight will be even more stifling to interesting story/character development than it already has been over the last two volumes of the book (and I suspect that's one of the major reasons KSD finally walked away).
HOWEVER, I really want to continue to invest in and support Carol Danvers so I'm trying my best to keep an open mind on the new series (really, I AM!). I'm anxious for the first issue in December......

i don't understand how anyone can be excited for the writing team. Show runners have never written a comic that made me say, hey that was fantastic. Not even Guggenhiem, whom i like.

After falling off when Kelly Sue's first series was rebooted, I was hoping the new team would draw me in, but haven't seen anything to draw me back in. Oh well at least there is still Ms. Marvel for me.

I have just read a bit of Kelly Sues run on Captain Marvel, and I gotta say it was kinda shit. But anyways, what I wanted to ask is why so many people disliked Dexter Soys art on it. Honestly I thought that was the one good thing about the book. And was there some sort of controversy surrounding the art of the book because the artist changes after the first 4 issues. I have only read the first 5 so maybe he came back. I just know he didn´t do whole run.

The marvel now stuff was good, but nothing to write home about. In my opinion. I still liked it and looked forward to it each month because i knew it would be a solid read. It has always been a middle of the stack book to me. That being said, David Lopez is one of my all time favorite artists. I just felt that his run with kelly sue lacked in alot of places for me.

I believe Tara Butters is Guggenheim's wife. She was also his writing partner on an Image book called Halcyon that I liked.
If I am remembering correctly than she has worked in comics before. Like anything else even established writers sometimes turn out bad work just like sometimes a newbie will knock it out of the park.
It could go either way
