Gettin' the thread fired up so we don't miss it this week!
Remember that Red One is the pick of the week to read for the podcast, if you have a few extra bucks lying around.

Red One #1: Fun, ridiculous action with a kickass lead. The last page/panels made me roll my eyes though
Silk #2: On the Marvel side of things, I was most excited for this comic and maybe a little worried it would let me down after such a strong start. Thankfully that fear was unfounded. Silk #2 is as good, if not better than its predecessor and even function as a great jumping on point!
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #3: Suit of Squirrels... 'nuff said.
Batgirl #40: The cover is breathtaking, the story is magnificent, and even though we knew where this was all heading, this issue is still the best we've seen so far (or at least it's tied with #39). Love the party shot and I can't WAIT for June.
Batgirl Endgame: Stewart and Fletcher writing. Bengal doing the art. This silent issue was absolutely astounding. It's a tale of big/small triumphs in the face of a Jokerpocalypse.

Is this the first Endgame tiein that is worth it? I did not like the Detecive one and regretted reading it. I ask because I've been reading Batman but no other Bat specific book besides Gotham Academy, Grayson and Gotham by Midnight and wasn't sure if I should pick up any other tieins.

Once again I'm going to include things from last week too - comments limited to stuff I have something to say about other than that all of this is worth reading...
Giant Days #1 (Boom) - My book of the week this week. Susan, Daisy and Esther are University roommates. There are shenanigans. The dialog is brilliant and funny, the cartooning is wonderful. This one goes straight onto my subscribe list, very highly recommended. Courtney Crumrin vol. 7 - A couple of tales of Uncle Aloysius as a young warlock. Great art as usual and a really fun read. Red One #1 - Fun, but nothing earth-shaking just yet. I'll certainly read the next issue. Have to say this doesn't read a lot like the 1970's to me (with the exception of the ill-fitting costume, which is very 70s indeed...) Nixon's Pals Squirrel Girl #3 - Continues to be really good fun. The text at the bottom of the page reminds me a lot of the "alt-text" on Dr McNinja. This can only be a good thing. Outcast #7
Hellbreak #1 (Oni Press) - An OK start, but made less of an initial impact than I would have expected from Cullen Bunn and this subject matter. I'll try a couple more issues, though. Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard Vol. 3 #1 - Skottie Young does a Mouse Guard story. Shaft #4 Shutter #10 Silver Surfer #10 East of West #18 - Fantastic, continues to be one of my favourite series. Astro City #21 Thor #6 - I hate to say it, but I'm losing interest in this Thor series. I'm getting a much better Jason Aaron fix from his other work. Ms. Marvel #13 New Avengers #31 Rachel Rising #32

I actually really loved Thor #6 and felt it was one of my top 5 books of last week. What didn't you like about it?

I actually really loved Thor #6 and felt it was one of my top 5 books of last week. What didn't you like about it? Don't get me wrong, it was OK... but Thor: God of Thunder was routinely one of my books of the week everytime it came out. This current run just doesn't feel as satisfying somehow - it just seems to lack a bit of the mythological heft. It's still well crafted, it just doesn't pique my interest as much - a different strokes thing is all.

I ask because I've been reading Batman but no other Bat specific book besides Gotham Academy, Grayson and Gotham by Midnight and wasn't sure if I should pick up any other tieins. I thought it was a great issue. Definitely worth $3 & I don't think you will "regret reading it" (wow. you really didn't like the DetCom tie-in, eh? I thought it was "ok" and probably a strong lead in to the We Are Robins title...which I think I am going to pass on). It doesn't/won't have any impact on the Endgame story but if you like the current Batgirl run (or even if not... it totally stands alone) you should dig this. A really great, one-and-done, with superb art.

I only got 2 books this week. Moon knight 13 was OK, not great. It felt like they were trying to get back to what Ellis/Shalvey were doing, but not as well. This one is probably falling off my pull.
My book of the week is Millar/Murphy's Chrononauts 1.the art is fantastic and is kind of similar to Matteo Scalera. There's just enough character background to sink is hooks in for a #1 issue. This story had a lot of potential and I think it'll be really cool. The only thing I could see people not liking is the 2 main characters have a very "dudebro" vibe, so if you're turned off by watching a couple frat boys travel through time it might not be for you.

Hey. troops!
I've never contributed to this thread, figuring that I have a chance to pontificate all I want on the show, but some books came out that I felt the need to bang the drum about, and as they haven't come up yet here, I wanted to throw them out to you before I go on about them on-air.
One that you'll expect is Sensation Comics #8, and particularly the opening story by James Tynion IV and Noelle Stevenson, about which I'll say nothing else except that as has been the case with this series, it celebrates the core values of Dr. Marston's vision of a "Wonder Woman", albeit in a unique and fun way!
The other would not be so expected, and that is Superman #39 by Geoff Johns, John Romita, Jr., and Klaus Janson, and it also provides a look into those characteristics and standards that define for me what I feel a hero should best exemplify, in this instance, as the Man of Steel faces a day without his incredible powers.
Sorry to my colleagues for spoiling some of this week's show, but as I know that these titles are not carried heavily in many stores, I wanted to give our listeners a chance to pick up some exceptional books before they disappeared.
Excelsior!

my favorites last week?
Well Eight #2, Batgirl Endgame, Invisible Republic #1, and Zero #15 all stood out from the pack in some way or other, but if I were to pick just one from that group it probably has to be Invisible Republic. Pretty goddamn phenomenal first issue; originally I wasn't even sure if I was going to pick it up, and I was much more hyped for Chrononaughts and Red One going into the day, but it ended up having everything you might want out of a #1: intrigue, something of a twist right off the bat, remarkable depth of character for only one issue, worldbuilding, quality art and colors, a good and clear pace/focus . . really did it all, for me; i'm in.

Jungle Jim #2 on the King Dynamite line was ruddy marvellous! Last issue we got to hear legends and rumours of who Jim is, but nothing prepared me for the man himself. He may well be my new favourite comic book character.
I also really enjoyed Miami Vice Remix #1 this week. A bold street art style to the visuals made it a joy to read (though it did feel like an assault on the eyes). Some of the text was a bit hard to read but overall I thought it was a real joy.
Pastaways was also great fun and one I'd highly recommend you pick up.
