Curious if anyone lives near or goes to one of these. I live not far from the Astor Theatre in Melbourne which constantly has amazing screenings and it is such a beautiful theatre with a HUGE screen. And they always do really good double features, either of their time or even a new film with an old eg; '89 Batman with Birdman.
But of course its under threat of closing down because of development. As much as that sucks though, it means their pulling out all the stops in the next couple months showing stuff I've always dreamt of seeing on the big screen, specifically Jaws which is showing as a double feature Duel next week and Blade Runner - The Final Cut which screened recently. Others one I'm crazy excited for are Alien/Aliens double feature, Akira/Ghost In The Shell double feature and Gunga Din with King Kong.
Funny though, first time I went there years ago I saw (of ALL things) a double feature of The Hollow Man and Bicentenial Man. Granted I hadn't seen them before... but not a great pairing. Not at all.
Anyway, its great to be able to see these films on the big screen. Wondering what are some films everyones been able to see in all its glory, or even some great double features etc.

For everyone out there, if there is a revival house in your neighborhood, try to support it as much as you can. Although it's easier to sit at home and dial up a film on Netflix, seeing a great film in a cinema with a crowd is a far better experience, particularly for comedy or horror films. Being so close to Manhattan, we're blessed to have theatres such as the Film Forum. Sunshine Cinemas, and Lincoln Center, not to mention venues such as the Metropolitan Museum and the Paley Center. What's even better is that only a half-hour's ride away is the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, which shows as its regular fare indie, documentary, and foreign films, kids programming, special horror and cult marathons, and tons of revivals, often with special guest hosts. I've been lucky enough to not only see great films such as the original King Kong, Citizen Kane, War of the Worlds, and Murnau's Faust (with live music by Theremin virtuoso Pamelia Kurstin!), but also experience The Last Picture Show as introduced by Peter Bogdanovich, Lady From Shanghai preceded by a great talk by Orson Welles' daughter Chris, and The Birds as a TCM event with Tippi Hedren.
