Went to pick up my pull list today. I pull Amazing Spiderman and The Avengers, as well as a load of other books but those are the two that go me asking questions of Marvel today. So I had Avengers 40 and 34.2, Spider verse 2 and I also wanted to read star wars. All 4 books were at $4.99. Nearly $20 for 4 books. Why so may $4.99 books on the same day Marvel? I don't use the AR app and never have so can't really offer a view on it
I know that prices do go up its the world we live in but i am now at the point were I would rather buy 3 image book pr DC books at $2.99 than 2 at $4.99. I think for me the way forward is the marvel unlimited and I don't think ill be reading Secret Wars if its at $4.99, sad face.

I hear that. I wanted to check out star wars as well but not for 5 bucks, so I'll wait 6 months until it comes out on unlimited. collecting spider-verse (I think i have been getting everything except the spider woman books) has been a huge expense, and I would have been getting 2099 anyway

I understand that pain, guys. I remember a few months ago, when my marvel pull was around 15 books a month. One week i had 4 5$ issues in 1 day, that was the day i had to make a change.
star wars was 5$ because it was 48 pages.... BUT 4 of those pages are previews, also the "recap" page, plus a 2 page spread that simply said star ways ontop of a black back round. After all the non necessary pages that had nothing to do with the comic, we got about 35-36 pages of actual starwars. Its ridiculous.

I've gone the way of digital for almost all of my Marvel titles except for Amazing Spider-man. I save on cost by buying digital codes off EBay from reliable vendors. I got Star Wars #1 digital copy for $1.75 and most Marvel titles between $1.50 and $2.00. Kiss those long boxes good bye and enjoy the digital revolution. End.

Not bad, if comixology prices were cheaper than the physicals, i would buy more digital every month. It baffles me that books are the SAME price digital of physical.

I do something similar, although in my case I'm checking a forum all day on Wednesday (unless I set a subscription with someone) in order to buy the codes from people before others beat me to it....I tend to pay 1$ for each code, with the 4.99 or 5.99 book for 2$. I'm still getting rid of boxes, I'm down to two long and two short boxes.....

Don't you miss physical comics though?? Digital is GREAT! Don't get me wrong, I love being able to lay on my couch on my lazy Sunday's off of work and buy a bunch of marvel or dc trades digitally on sale for 3.99. But there is something special and fun about going to comic shops and browsing and starting conversations with people about the stuff we love.
To me, digital and physical comics hand and hand. Neither should replace the other. It's like they are both apart of a symphony, physical comics are the lead violin and the digital stuff is the violas in the background creating a harmony. I would u let never go 100% one way or other other. And I can never see myself not going to my lcs. For me it's an escape from regular life.
I work with mail. I work for a fortune 500 company that deals with checkered payments. After a long insane week with more numbers than you can ever imagine, I look for my lcs yo liberate me. It doesn't matter howbstressedni am. As soon as in step in to eye opener in Newington connecticut, none of that matters.
In conclusion, all forms of comics should be celebrated! But there's nothing like laying down with your favorite comic book on a weekend evening next to your lady, and escaping to the dcu/marvleU/imageU.

I don't....the only time I guess physical copies is for Skottie Young and other variants (for Marvel) and 1st issues (Image). Other than that reading it on a tablet or from the book itself makes no difference to me as I'm getting the same information.
And I still go to my LCS to get the variants and also for figures and such, but I never struck conversations with anyone (but that is me personally in everything), so digital in the end is better for me as it gets rid of the hassle to store and later when moving (which I done once with all those boxes) moving so many stuff. Also I can read whatever I want whenever I want (as long as I have signal if I haven't download it already).
But again that is me....=D

Yeah I understand. But I don't enjoy reading on a tablet nearly as much, especially since you can't enjoy two page splash pages on a tablet quite like you can with a physical. To me it's not a hassle storing and moving them either, since it's something I love. But I understand the digital convenience for some people.
The thing that turns me off is that if I lose connection at home, then I'm out of luck. I won't be able to access my archived books on comixology. Since they take up so much space I can't store everything on it. That's the only thing that worries me

Coming in super late to the conversation but it is something I have been thinking about a lot so thanks for bringing it up
I remember when marvel started adding free digital copies and it did not increase the price to the comic at the time and actually gave me another bonus to get the physical comic.
This is very similar to what blu ray is doing coming out with a free digital copy of every blu ray. I like collecting the physical copy of movies, but it is nice to have the frame of mind that whenever everything does good digital I don't have to buy everything over again.
Same goes with music if I end up buying a real CD (very rare nowadays) I immediately rip the CD and listen to it on my iphone. I do that same with comics now.
If I have the time (have 2 kids so hard) proper lighting and my hands are not dirty from something that might ruin the comic I read it physically. Otherwise I read it on my phone or IPAD.
This move has actually gotten me to buy more singles than trades recently since I always worry about damaging the singles. Now I can redeem the copy and collect them without every worry about damaging them.
Also I find doing this is more worth my value than buying the comics straight digital for the same price.
I get the ability to go to the store and browse and talk to people. Buy a comic for the same price it was going to be and get a free digital comics that would haves cost me at least $1.00.
Both going straight digital (without waiting for a sale) or getting a comic without a free digital copy feels like I am paying too much for the same thing.
Not having a free digital copy can be the deal breaker for me in getting the single at all. I collect comics more for the stories and if I go straight physical the better way to go is trades stories (that are usually 6 issues) price (trades are much cheaper especially if you go to amazon) space (with backboards and bags a trade is 1/4 the space to collect)
Long story short free digital copies gets me to buy singles

I can dig it, that definitely is a plus and i have started to redeem my marvel digital codes. It is a plus that it comes with it. I dont get why marvel new releases on comixology are the same price as a physical book. To me its a complete waste to buy marvel books on the app. When you could go get the physical, and get the digi copy with it. IT makes no sense to me.

Ok, coming in late here.
Let me preface this by saying I'm a long-time Marvel fan, and a long-time DC fan. And I really don't play sides with my comic companies.
I have recently dropped my Marvel books, save for MiracleMan, and after 16, I'll probably drop that too and trade wait.
It's hard for me to get behind buy Marvel books right now. 1.) There just isn't a lot that I'm enjoying. I like the fun books - but I generally prefer a slightly edgy/darker tone (sorry I'm that dude). 2.) Amazing Spider Man, Avengers, New Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, Uncanny X-men, Magneto, All new X-men, are all good books - but most of them are not 3.99 quality, let alone 4.99 Quality. 3.) Most of those books are coming out twice monthly... which is nearly 8-10$ for a of a story, that most of the time feels rushed or filler-heavy these days, and a lot of those books feel like cash grabs other than actual books (Dc is totally guilty of this too, and I don't go for it their either). 4.) Paper Quality - I'm not sure what it is, but I can say I've had more rips, tears and cover damages from marvel in the past year, than I have in my entire 18+ year comic history. I don't see how their books can cost that much, and be that fragile... 5.) Marvel Unlimited - worth the 7.99 per month. Again I'm a marvel fan through and through. I'll use this service and probably hunt down back issues from here on out. 6.) Too many Event tie ins - and full disclosure, I really enjoy events. But running side by side events with tons of tie in mini's that may or may not be integral to the story - well, Marvel Unlimited is there for that too.

You basically took the words right out of my mouth. Miracleman is my last marvel book on my pull. Although after secret wars I will check out a few titles to see if I'm into it. The prices are such a killer for me.

First off I downloaded the AR app and think it's interesting, but unless its directly integrated into the digital version of the comic who cares. I do like getting the Digital copies with the paper books, as I read primarily, if not entirely, on my iPad. As far as pricing goes I'm with you 150%. Prices going up again right now is insane. We've seen price hike after price hike with no real reason. I mean has paper gone up? Ink? Advertising? It's a joke. I'm actually in the process of dropping books that arrive with a 4.99 price tag. I've broken down and bought a few (ant-man #1 and latest Captain Marvel) but I've also dropped some books I was really enjoying out of frustration (Nova being the biggest example). I would say that within the next year to two years I will be reading Marvel exclusively off the unlimited app. I already use the app for my avengers blog (which you should totally check out at www.comicdork.wordpress.com shameless plug) and with only a six month delay it's making less and less sense to buy these things. Especially when we talk about big events that serve no purpose other than to lead into another event. I'll end there before breaking into a multi-page rant on how corporations in this country suck up more and more profit while delivering less and less actual product.
