Is anyone else sad that this series is ending with Issue 24? I'm definitely excited for Brubaker and Phillips' new series The Fade Out, but I've loved Fatale's blend of noir with a Lovecraftian supernatural edge. This team continues to deliver high quality storytelling.
Anyone else going to miss the series?

I read the first 6 issues, liked it but got too far behind. Picked up the next 8 issues during a comixology sale, but hasn't read it yet. With it ending ill wait till it's all done and then read it at once. What I did read was pretty good stuff

My hope is that many people will act similarly and pick up the whole series to get the complete story. That is what I did with Locke and Key. I became aware of it after the first few volumes came out, then picked up the whole series during a recent sale on comixology and have been devouring it. If you like Fatale and also are into the works of HP Lovecraft, there is a great podcast called The HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast, hppodcraft.com/, that has really high-quality discussion of different stories and really well done story recordings.

NOOOOOOOOOO! I didn't know this was the case. I am literally heartbroken. This was one of my favorite stories. I don't know what to say. At least I have 5 more issues.
This book is seriously on my top 3 series right now.

This book is seriously on my top 3 series right now. Yeah, I was seriously bummed too. I think originally they planned for it to be a shorter mini series, and then when it took off they made it an ongoing so I had my hopes up for a multi-volume run like they did on Criminal. Still, you're right that we have 5 more issues to look forward to and I fully expect them end the series on an epic, disturbing note. Once it's done, I'll need to start looking elsewhere for my noir/horror fix. Maybe I'll pick up the new trade of Ten Grand and it sounds like Robert Kirkman's new book Outcast about demonic possession.

This is another book I've contemplated jumping onto. With the news that its ending i'll probably wait for some sort of omnibus and grab it off Amazon.

There's a really jarring artist shift but it's still really good.

It reminded me a little of Hellblazer, but on the whole has a really unique feel. I love Ben Templesmith's art in the first issue, but I guess he drops off after the third or fourth issue right? Are you still enjoying it with the new artist?

Yeah I still read it. There were only two issues since the artist change. The new artist is just as cool, (now that I'm used to it I might actually like it more) but when it first happens I was REALLY put off. The new artist, CP Smith is a lot more clear so it's easier to tell what's going on.
It sucks though, because I think Templesmith is one of my favorite artists.

That makes sense to me as Ben Templesmith's art adds so much atmosphere to the book and really suggests that line between our perceived reality and what lies underneath the surface. But I'm encouraged that you like the new artist's work, makes it more likely I'll stick with this and catch up.

I'm sad to see it go but even good to great things have to end sometime. I'll reread Criminal until Brubaker's next new NEW series starts up along w/ Velvet.

As much as I love Fatale, I'd rather read 24 great issues compared to 36 or 48 mediocre issues. If the writers and artists have other stories they want to tell, I'll be on board!

Brubaker & Phillips are planning on a new series called "The Fade Out" by Image in the summer. I found info about it on the I for Image promo comic.

I wonder what the art style will be like... I'm sure it will be pretty much the same, but I wanna know! There was only the cover in the I for Image promo comic, which made me sad.

I recently checked out a copy of The Art of Sean Phillips from Dynamite. It's a pretty impressive volume and retrospective on his art. Honestly, I've only ever seen is art in his collaborations with Brubaker, which tends to have a similar look. But the book shows that he has real range and even does some impressive oil paintings and other mediums. It'll be interesting to see if the art is what we've come to expect or if he changes it up a bit. His art really reminds me of Edward Hopper paintings, one of my favorites.
